The $850,000 Call that Wasn’t Taken

On a Monday, the call came in from Warner Bros. CFO Bruce Berman was calling on behalf of Art Linson, who had a 5-movie deal with the studio, to make an offer to buy my screenplay—perhaps prophetically called Impossible.

My agents at a small boutique NYC agency did not take that call.  They hoped to get a bidding war going.  That week, they sent the script to thirty producers and every major studio.  But all those prospective bidders did not bid—there was no offer!!!

Frantically, my agents tried to call Berman.  Yeah.  Was the Hollywood lion going to take a call when the lambs hadn’t taken his?

When it all died down, and the phone stopped, and my agents gave up and jetted off on vacation, Bruce’s assistant called.  The offer woulda been $850,000.

But that’s not the end of the story…

Today, Impossible is possible, with a more hopeful name–The Love Hit—and optioned to John E. Ferraro, former VP of Acquisitions and Development at Paramount Studios.  And we are taking offers.

The Love Hit logline:

A wealthy girl is jilted at the altar and vows she’s off love forever.  She chooses a guy for a weekly tryst—a sexy Italian construction worker—only to find that hot sex and sweet friendship break all her assumptions about mister right.
